Prayer for the Unknown
Shoulder Wound of the Lord

Saint Bernard, Abbot of Clairvaux,
prayed to Jesus Christ, our Redeemer
and Lord, asking about His greatest
physical pain during the Passion.

Jesus replied, "From carrying the cross,
I had a wound on my shoulder, three
fingers deep, with three exposed bones.
This wound caused me more agony and
pain than any other.

Among humans, it remains unknown. But
reveal it to faithful Christians, and know that
any grace they request through this wound
will be granted to them.

And to all those who, out of love for me, contemplate
the pain of this wound and honor me every day
with three 'Our Father,' 'Hail Mary,' and 'Glory be,'

I will forgive venial sins. I will no longer think of their
grave sins; they will not die a sudden death. At the
moment of death, they will be visited by the
Virgin Mary, and with grace, they will attain mercy!"

Let us pray:

O my dearest Jesus, gentle Lamb of God!
I, a poor and sinful human, adore You and
contemplate the extremely great pains of
Your shoulder wound, which was torn by
the heavy cross You carried for me.

I thank You for the immeasurable gift of
Your love, the redemption, and anticipate
the graces You have promised to those
who contemplate Your passion and the
intense pains of Your shoulder wound.

Jesus, my Savior, encouraged by You to
ask for what I desire, I implore You for
the gift of Your Holy Spirit for me and for
the entire Church, as well as for this grace:
[mention the desired grace].

Grant that all may serve to Your glory and
for my good, as it pleases the heart of the Father.

Amen.

Three Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory be...
